Your tax-deductible contribution will be used to support the Tenth Annual Drums Along the Hudson: A Native American Festival, held in Upper Manhattan's Inwood Hill Park on Sunday, May 20th, 2012 from 11 am to 6 pm.
This event, established by Lotus Music & Dance and co-sponsored each year with the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, is a day of celebration of Native American culture with food, crafts, song, dance and the planting of a White Pine tree, the Iroquois symbol of peace. We also feature other world cultures that share the “drum as the heartbeat.” It is a fun-filled, family event and free to the public. Drums Along the Hudson has become our signature event reaching out to a broader audience and gaining wider public exposure for endangered traditional arts. Over the years we have served more than 50,000 people which includes over 14,000 school children.
Please consider a contribution in support of this important event which keeps the traditional arts alive and accessible. Please join us, our honorees this year are: La Donna Harris, President, Americans for Indian Opportunity, and Jane Schachat, former Northern Manhattan Parks Department Administrator.
